The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

From the moment he first declared, “I am the Lorax… I speak for the trees,” I fell in love with Dr. Seuss’s diminutive environmentalist. Needless to say, I was thrilled to learn that Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment will be creating a 3-D feature film based on the 1971 children’s book, The Lorax. I can’t wait to see the Truffula trees in all of their three-dimensional glory, and I can only imagine how they’ll computer animate the Barbaloots in their Barbaloot suits. It’s scheduled for a March 2012 release, so I guess I’ll have to exercise some patience. Luckily, I learned patience from the Lorax.

This announcement got me thinking about other recent big screen adaptations of Dr. Seuss classics. Back in 2ooo, there was How the Grinch Stole Christmas starring Jim Carrey. Mike Myers took on the title role of The Cat in the Hat in 2003. Last year, Jim Carrey and Steve Carell provided voices for Horton Hears a Who. Which one of these movies is your favorite?
