Paula’s New Gig & Who Made the Rock Hall of Fame?

Happy birthday, Jerry Lewis! Moving on:  Is there life after “Idol”? Well there is for Paula Abdul, who’s apparently now in serious talks to star in the newly revamped  “Star Search” for ABC. There have been rumors circulating for quite some time since she left the pop culture juggernaut that turned her into a household name (even if you do remember her dancing with the mouse, you have to admit “Idol” made her an insanely popular –if frequently maligned –  cultural touchstone). And there was talk that she might even be a judge on Simon Cowell’s new “X-Factor”. But now ABC says “Star Search” is calling.  Speaking of “American Idol”  – tomorrow’s  St. Patrick’s Day show will feature a special appearance by Ke$ha (she of “Tik Tok” fame) performing her new single “Blah, Blah, Blah” (at least her spelling’s improving).  In other TV news, there’s a new show bowing tonight on FX called “Justified” starring “Deadwood”’s Timothy Olyphant that critics are saying is absolutely worth a look for any of you who might be into the mysterious lone gunslinger thing. Let us know what you think. Now despite the messy gossip circulating in Hollywood right now, we do try and steer clear of all that  tawdry chatter. So we won’t go into any great detail about the fact that Oscar-winner Kate Winslet and her husband (& frequent director) of seven years Sam Mendes have split. But amicably. On account of the parenting thing. Nor would we elaborate too much on the whole  long-rumored Katherine Heigl is leaving Grey’s Anatomy and that it’s a “done deal” story either.  Instead, because it’s Tuesday, let’s talk more about music. On the charts, Sade finally took a back seat to Lady Antebellum, the country trio enjoying quite a meteoric rise. And in really big (or at least “history-making”) music news,  the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was last night in New York City and they welcomed the Class of 2010. The inductees were: Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Genesis, Abba, Jimmy Cliff and the Hollies.  For the purposes of today’s poll, let’s assume the Hollies’ members went on to do many other things and stopped recording a zillion years ago  — so let’s just focus on the other 4 acts. Which of these 2010 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees is your favorite?

1)    Iggy Pop/The Stooges

2)    Genesis

3)    Abba

4)    Jimmy Cliff
