Halloween how-to: Daisy from ‘The Great Gatsby’

The 20s were known for decadence, dancing and art-deco design, and now thanks to Baz Luhrmann’s sparkly remake of The Great Gatsby, the era has also become known as one of the most popular inspirations for Halloween costumes. You can don your best tuxedo to play Jay Gatsby or get extra flashy to channel Nick, but we think the most fun and accessory-happy character would be blonde flapper girl Daisy.

To get her look, you have to start with the one thing that defines the 1920’s: a bob wig. In the film, Carey Mulligan’s Daisy decked out her blonde locks in custom Tiffany jewels, but you can get her bejeweled headpiece look for a fraction of the cost with this David’s Bridal headband and accessorize with a multi-strand pearl bracelet. For the main attraction, there are a lot of pricier dress options — we love this one — but for something affordable with a 20s feel, try this silver fringe hem dress. Throw on some glittery heels to round out the sparkle factor, and you’re ready to hit the dance floor!

What do you think about Daisy as a Halloween costume? Will you be channeling the famous flapper girl?
