Paul Walker may have been best known for starring in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, but since his death on Nov. 30 the actor is being celebrated for another reason: His philanthropy.

Walker, who founded the charity Reach Out Worldwide to help aid victims of natural disasters, was reportedly attending a fundraiser in Southern California to raise money for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan shortly before his fatal accident. His generosity however extended beyond the public eye.

A former jewelry store salesperson has revealed that Walker had once anonymously purchased a wedding ring for a veteran and his fiance at her store.

“The groom was just back from duty in Iraq, and he was going to be deployed again soon and wanted to buy a wedding ring, but he said he just could not afford it,” King told CNN. Walker reportedly overheard the conversation and decided to buy the $10,000 ring for the young couple. “Walker left all his billing info, and it was a done deal,” continued King. “The couple was stunned.”

King kept the secret for more than a decade but after Walker’s death she wanted the world to know of his generosity. “To do something like that to a perfect stranger is just unbelievable,” King said.
