The People’s Choice Awards are about to get a little more “Brave.”

Just days after nabbing Grammy noms for album of the year and best pop solo performance, Sara Bareilles has been confirmed as a performer for the 2014 People’s Choice Awards. Bareilles is set to sing her hit single “Brave,” which was written in collaboration with Fun guitarist Jack Antonoff, and debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year.

“[‘Brave’] is just so very special to me,” Bareilles told “It was written as a love letter to a good friend of mine who was struggling to come out as an adult. Over the course of the release of that song I’ve seen the meaning change a million times over. It’s been such a pleasure to watch the message behind the music really connect with people about facing fears and allowing themselves to be their most courageous self. It means so much to me; I’m really grateful I get to sing that song.”

The singer also dropped some hints about what fans can expect from the performance.
“I’m gonna try to hit the high notes… hopefully,” joked Bareilles. “We’re bringing a full band and I think it will be really exciting. We’re working on some surprises too, so we’ll see what happens.”
