Demi Lovato Possibly Exiting ‘The X Factor:’ Should Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez Replace Her?

Rumor has it that Demi Lovato will not be returning for another season of The X Factor. The singer plans to spend 2014 focusing on her music, while we plan to spend the rest of 2013 speculating on her possible X Factor replacement. Lovato’s candor and verbal TKOs of reality guru Simon Cowell will surely be missed (if she actually decides to leave!), but here are five stars we think could occupy the judging chair in her place.

1. Sara Bareilles

Accomplished singer, sunny demeanor and past reality show judging experience on her resume make the People’s Choice Awards performer a top candidate to fill the void created by Lovato’s possible departure.

2. Selena Gomez

At the tender age of 21, Gomez is already a multi-hyphenated superstar. Could this singer-actress-voice artist-fashion designer-spokeswoman potentially add reality show judge to her ever expanding list of growing occupations? We think so!

3. Ed Sheeran

2014 may just be the year of Sheeran, so why not add the country crooner to the X Factor panel? His low-key humor and positive attitude would make the perfect companion to Cowell’s acerbic wit.

4. Miley Cyrus

An admitted long shot, but who among us wouldn’t tune in to see what the unpredictable star would twerk say on a week-to-week basis. Plus, can you imagine the epic verbal quarrels Simon “the human scowl” Cowell and Cyrus would have each week? It would be must see TV!

5. Sarah Hyland

Hyland is perhaps best known as Haley Dunphy from the ABC juggernaut Modern Family, but is also an accomplished Broadway actress as well as a noted X Factor superfan. Hyland’s immense likeability mixed with her hilarious wit would make her an instant fan favorite. She just seems like the type of person who’d make a night at the bowling alley extra fun, which is precisely what we’re looking for in our next X Factor judge. Sarah Hyland for The X Factor in 2014!
