Box Office Report: ‘Non-Stop’ and ‘Son of God’ Topple ‘Lego Movie’

Like all great Lego creations, The Lego Movie was destined to topple over eventually.

After an impressive box office reign, the film fell to third place this weekend following the debut of Liam Neeson’s Non-Stop and the theatrical release of the Mark Burnett produced Son of God.

Neeson’s airplane suspense thriller debuted at number one with an estimated $30 million, while Son of God — which was adapted from the hit History channel mini-series The Bible — followed closely with a box office take of about $26.5 million.

But don’t shed too many tears, Lego Movie fans. Not only did the family friendly flick take home another $21 million at the box office this weekend, but it also surpassed the $200 million mark ($209 million overall) and is the highest grossing film of 2014.

Unsurprisingly, a sequel has also been confirmed for 2017.

Did you see Non-Stop or Son of God this weekend? If so, what did you think?
