Kids Freak Out After Seeing A Walkman; 10 Other Things We’d Like To See Them React To

Remember Walkmans? If you do, get ready to feel old because the portable cassette player of the past is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Most people under the age of 25 have probably never owned or operated a cassette player, so imagine what today’s youth would think if they were forced to interact with this antiquated form of technology. Or, better yet, just watch this video of children attempting to decipher and operate the old-fashion music player.

Watch below as a group of children react to this archaic form of ’80s nostalgia with the kind of confusion generally reserved for complex mathematics or Ikea instruction manuals.

Our favorite reaction is definitely 11-year-old Jayka, who pokes away at the Walkman like it’s an extraterrestrial creature.

Here are 10 more items we’d like to see kids react to:

1. An episode of Friends

“What are those crazy adults wearing?” the children would ask. Sadly, there is no current combination of words in the English language to articulately describe the wardrobe of the ’90s.

2. The board game Mouse Trap

3. Beepers

4. A Tamagotchi

5. A VCR

6. The Macarena music video

The only way to accurately describe this video is “what an evil clown’s dream looks like.”

7. Pogs

8. A cassette tape

9. An episode of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?

Insane show but amazing theme song.

“Well she’s ransack Pakistan and run a scam in Scandinavia
Then she’ll stick’em up down under and go pick-pocket Perth
She put the miss in misdemeanor when she stole the beans from Lima”

Those lyrics are art and they belong in a museum.

10. A Skip-it

This actually qualified as “fun” in the ’90s.

What relic would you like to see children react to next?
