If only there were a potion to cure embarrassment.

Much like we all cringe with anxiety when looking at old yearbook photos, Daniel Radcliffe says he finds it hard to watch early installments of the Harry Potter films.

“We never had an acting coach in all the time we were there and there were times we could have done with one. I know I could have,” Radcliffe reportedly said during an appearance on The South Bank Show. “There wasn’t a lot of nuance to my performance when we were young and I find those early films very hard to watch personally.”

Radcliffe, who played the eponymous wizard for eight feature films, acknowledged that when he was younger there were quite a few things he didn’t know about the acting process.

“There were certain things like how to break down a script, or even certain questions like what does a certain character want out of a certain scene,” Radcliffe said.

You can watch the older, presumably more nuanced, Radcliffe star alongside James McAvoy in the 2015 film Frankenstein.

Daniel Radcliffe’s entire interview airs tonight at 9:30 p.m. on Sky Arts 1
