Could orange be the new gold during this year’s Emmy Awards?
The entertainment industries finest will assemble at the Nokia Theatre this Monday to celebrate the best in television as Seth Meyers hosts the 66th annual Emmy Awards on NBC. While the competition for Outstanding Comedy includes ratings behemoths like The Big Bang Theory and Emmy stalwarts including Modern Family and Veep, one series that may have their competition singing the jailhouse blues is the Netflix sensation Orange is the New Black.
Nominated for 12 Emmy awards, which already includes Uzo Aduba’s Creative Arts Emmy Award victory for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, the ladies of Litchfield Penitentiary can barely contain their excitement for Monday’s award show.
Forget traditional levels of excitement, OITNB actress Danielle Brooks, who portrays fan favorite Taystee Jefferson, told Peopleschoice.com that she’s “over the moon excited” for the cast and crew and talked about what she hopes to see next season on the popular series.
“I’ve always hoped that Taystee would get some love. That would be really cool. The writers are so much better than the ideas that I come up with in my head, so whatever they come up with. I’m excited to see where all of the story journeys go.”
OITNB star Alysia Reiner echoed her costars enthusiasm sharing with Peopleschoice.com that she feels "so lucky to be a part of the show." Reiner also discussed what could be next for her character, former Assistant Warden Natalie "Fig" Figueroa.
"I believe in karma, and Fig has done some not so good things, so if she gets a little back at her I'd be okay with that."
Seth Meyers hosts the 66th annual Emmy Awards Monday, August 25th on NBC.
