Taylor Swift blessed Swifties everywhere by releasing the first outtake segment from the set of her music video for “Shake It Off.” In the clip, we get a behind-the-scenes look at Taylor and her backup dancers as they film the cheerleading portion of the video.

The fun and lighthearted shoot shows the 24-year-old pop star try basket tosses for the first time, hurl a megaphone around set, and pretend to be the “uncool” cheerleader who just doesn’t quite fit in. Swift wants to send a message with the video to all of her fans who feel like they’re not in the “cool” crowd.

“I don’t think it’s the most important thing in life to fit in,” Swift says in the clip. “I think it’s the most important thing in life to dance to the beat of your own drum and to look like you’re having more fun than the people who look cool like they fit in.”

Swift is definitely known for marching to the beat of her own drum.

At the 2014 VMAs on Sunday, she continued her awkward award-show-dancing dominance and then swiftly reminded us that she’s actually really good at dancing with her first live performance of “Shake It Off.”

What is it about Taylor that makes her so entertaining to watch, you ask? Tyce Diorio, the choreographer for the video, says it’s all in her attitude.

“She’s so fearless, and she just shows up to every moment,” Diorio said. “And that for me, as a choreographer, and someone who directs movement, it’s just so refreshing and so beautiful.”

Beautiful indeed, Tyce.
