Stop the presses! Did Brad Pitt and George Clooney make a secret pact to get married in the same year?
Probably not, but that didn’t stop a reporter from asking the Fury star whether he and Clooney purposefully planned to get hitched in 2014. The two dashing Hollywood leading men — who said “I do” a little over a month apart from each other — were perennial bachelors before they each tied the knot with their significant others earlier this year. (Pitt and Angelina Jolie had been dating for nine years before walking down the aisle in August, while Clooney had a string of relationships before marrying Amal Alamuddin in September.)
So, what prompted the Ocean’s 11 costars to finally to commit this summer?
“We did it for the right reasons,” Pitt told the Associated Press, while laughing off the pact theory.
Speaking of family, the father of six also revealed that he’s cool with his 13-year-old son Maddox watching his latest war drama.
“He’s a World War II buff,” said Pitt, who added that he comes from “another generation” when it comes to determining what’s appropriate viewing for his children.
“My father would take us to the drive-in as very young kids and we’d see Clint Eastwood movies and kung fu movies,” Pitt continued. “The world is a beautiful place, but it’s also a very violent place. We talk about it afterward, so I’m not so opposed.”
Fury opens nationwide Friday.
