For Goosebumps and Fear Street author R.L. Stine, every day is like Halloween. But this year, the writer devised a unique way to make sure the holiday has no shortage of “tricks.”

Yesterday, the ’90s master of childhood fear fiction teased that he was going to share an original scary story on Twitter — and boy, did he deliver.

“Join me this evening. I’m going to try to write a story live on Twitter. See you in a few hours?” Stine wrote.

The story, entitled “What’s In My Sandwich,” was “published” in a series of 15 tweets, starting at 8 pm E.T. last night and centered around a mysterious creature in an infested egg. The master of suspense, Stine kept readers on edge with a succession of scary tweets.

Here’s the full story:

Turns out, this is not the first time R.L. Stine has taken his talents to social media. Back in 2012, Stine also posted a story of tweets, complete with instructions of how and when to yell the surprise end.

This year, Stine’s story ended abruptly with the protagonist waiting for furry creatures to eat his son’s insides. Talk about a 21st century cliffhanger!

What do you think of Stine’s latest work? Too long, too short? Terrifying or just gross? Let us know.
