When Outlander galloped onto screens over the summer to become a television sensation, stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan had a difficult task ahead of them. They needed to translate a beloved series of books, while still managing to capture all of the period details, character nuances, and the deep connection between their characters, Claire and Jamie, all in just 8 episodes. (And Heughan had to do it in a kilt!)
Well, it turns out the fans think they did a pretty good job, as Outlander took home this year’s People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show”.
And the fetching pair couldn’t have been more excited about their win, telling People’s Choice in an exclusive acceptance speech video that they were “absolutely blown away” and “delighted” by all of the love, support, and dedicated voting.
The flustered pair kept things short and sweet, because, as Heughan explained, "We can't believe we're quite here!" Still, Balfe made sure to fit in plenty of "thank yous," adding that the whole experience is "amazing." Something tells us all of the Outlander fans out there feel the exact same way.
Congratulations on the win! Or, as Clan Fraser would probably say, Meal a naidheachd!
