You never quite know what you’re going to witness during an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Never one to remain complacent, Fallon and company have produced a number of buzzworthy watercooler moments, but the late night host’s recent interview with Nicole Kidman elicited a jaw-dropping revelation: Jimmy Fallon blew a chance to date the actress!

During the interview on Tuesday, Fallon recalled an incident years ago when a mutual friend unexpectedly brought Kidman to his apartment to discuss a possible role in the 2005 Ferrell/Nicole Kidman film Bewitched. On his friend’s instruction, an overwhelmed Fallon, whose apartment only contained “video games and sneakers,” made a quick deli run to pick up some brie cheese and crackers because, you know, that’s what you do when Nicole Kidman randomly decides to drop by for a visit.

Kidman, who was single at the time, was under the impression the meeting was more personal and less professional.

“I just remember I liked you,” Kidman told a visibly flustered Fallon. “Not now. I’m married now.”

While Fallon and Kidman are both presently married with children, the Tonight Show host couldn’t get over the Moulin Rouge star’s shocking admission.

“Wait, what? What are you talking about!?” Fallon shrieked. “Did I date Nicole Kidman? Did we go on a date?”

According to Kidman, their “date” did not go well.

“You’re there in a baseball cap,” Kidman said. “And you wouldn’t talk. You didn’t say anything… and then you put on a video game on or something, and I’m like, ‘this is so bad.'”

At this point, Jimmy Fallon literally hid under his desk out of embarrassment.

We don’t blame him.

How did Fallon feel the day after he became aware of his romantic misstep with the sultry Australian actress? Pretty much the same it seems.

“I’m so embarrassed,” Fallon shared on Twitter.

As you should be, Jimmy!
