Actress Bella Thorne has come a long way since her days on The Disney Channel and later this month, she’ll be dipping into the horror genre, when she stars in the upcoming television adaption of the hit ’90s slasher film, Scream.
The franchise is about to get a facelift for the millennial era with a plot centering around a cyber-bullying incident that becomes the catalyst for a brutal murder, which, in turn, reminds residents of a killing spree that swept their sleepy town of Lakewood long ago. Though the spooks may be similar, Thorne assured People’s Choice that the series will be distinct from the original film.
"Ours is very different," Thorne told People's Choice at the MTV Upfronts earlier this month. "We took the best parts of [the original] and we're reinventing it our own generation and that's what's so cool — that's what's so interesting."
Later, when we had Thorne play a round of Against The Clock, the actress confessed that the one person she'd love to have guest star on the upcoming series would be none other than Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien. We can't help but think that dealing with werewolves, banshees, and everything in between on MTV's hit supernatural drama would serve to help O'Brien seamlessly step into the world of MTV's newest thriller.
Guest stars aside, Thorne also dished about her favorite '90s movie, which show she'd like to see Scream do a crossover with in the future, and more. Check out all of her answers in the latest installment of Against the Clock, above!
Scream debuts on MTV on June 30.
