Before Piper Perabo spied for the CIA on Covert Affairs and Tyra Banks taught contestants how to “smize” on America’s Next Top Model, they danced on tables in the romantic, music-filled dramedy that is Coyote Ugly.
Today marks the 15th anniversary of when Coyote Ugly first made its way into theaters and Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) first sang her way into our hearts. Released in 2000, the movie follows 21-year-old Violet, an aspiring songwriter who moves to New York City in hopes of getting making it big in the music industry — only to realize that success doesn’t come easily. Before finally getting her break, Violet works at the Coyote Ugly Saloon, spending most of her nights on top of the bar with her fellow Coyotes.
While once a Coyote, always a Coyote, the cast members have moved past their bartending days and into new roles. Keep reading to see what the cast is up to now!
Violet Sanford/Piper Perabo
Piper just finished starring as CIA superspy Annie Walker on USA’s Covert Affairs, and her next role takes her to the stage as Viola in the Bay Street Theatre’s reading of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” She’ll be performing for three nights only — August 14, 15, and 16.
While Coyote marked one of Tyra’s final feature films, she’s been keeping quite busy the last 15 years with her own talk show (RIP) and her ongoing hit reality show, America’s Next Top Model.
Kevin O’Donnell/Adam Garcia
Garcia has had guest stints on various shows the last few years, including Hawthorne and House M.D. His new movie, Party Pieces, with Carmen Electra is currently in production.
Bill Sanford/John Goodman
Goodman has acted in many TV series and movies since his role in Coyote Ugly, but he can next be seen in Love The Coopers with Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde, set for a November release.
Bello is leaving the romcom life behind as she makes her way to the sci-fi thriller genre with The 5th Wave, also starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Liev Schrieber, due to be released in January 2016.
For the past five years, Moynahan has been starring in CBS’ Blue Bloods as Erin Reagan, a by-the-book assistant district attorney.
Movies involving dancing seem to be a favorite for Miko. After her role as Cammie in Coyote Ugly she went on to star in 2006’s Save The Last Dance 2 and had roles in 2014’s Step Up All In and Make Your Move. She also took part in a mini Coyote reunion when she guest-starred on an episode of Moynahan’s show, Blue Bloods, earlier this year. She currently has a recurring role on NBC’s Chicago Fire.
Lynskey played the annoying, but funny neighbor Rose in Two and a Half Men, right up until the show ended this year. Now she stars in the HBO comedy Togetherness.
LeAnne Rimes/LeAnne Rimes
LeAnne Rimes was only 17 when she sang her heart out in Coyote Ugly, earning a gold-certified single with “Can’t Fight The Moonlight,” aka the theme song for the movie. And the song that will forever remind people of Coyote Ugly every time they hear it. She is currently working on Christmas albums for both this year and next.
