People’s Choice Awards has a leg up on most other awards shows, seeing as we come first, right at the beginning of the new year. As a result, our winners sometimes go on to land several other glamorous awards, from Emmys to Golden Globes and Oscars! Maybe it’s just luck, but we like to think that our voters are just that astute at picking the best of the best!

To prove our point, we’ve listed just a few of the many times you guys were one step ahead of the critics!

1. Jennifer Lawrence – Favorite Movie Actress, People’s Choice Awards 2013

People’s Choice Awards 2013 kicked off a great year for Jennifer Lawrence! After she won a PCA for Favorite Movie Actress, she went on to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy and then an Academy Award for Best Actress.

2. Jennifer Aniston – Favorite Female TV Performer, People’s Choice Awards 2003

During her nine-year run on Friends, Jennifer Aniston was nominated for a huge host of awards, but People’s Choice voters got it right in 2003. After voting her Favorite Female TV Performer, the Emmy’s seconded the notion by awarding her Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy.

3. Jane The Virgin – Favorite New TV Comedy, People’s Choice Awards 2015

Jane's hilarious accidental pregnancy turned out to be just what the people wanted in a new comedy! As it turns out, the CW telenovella wasn't just popular with the fans, it was popular with the critics too, as Gina Rodriguez went on to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Comedy a few days later.

4. Taylor Swift - Favorite Country Artist, People's Choice Awards 2013

We're not sure how long it's been since an awards season has gone by without Taylor Swift's name coming up all over the place, but we're still pretty proud to have called her 2013 winning streak first. After winning Favorite Country Artist at the People's Choice Awards, Swift went on to dominate the American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the CMA's, and she even won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

5. Justin Timberlake - Favorite Male Artist & Favorite Album, People's Choice Awards 2014

Another musician who's had his fair share of awards nominations, Justin Timberlake cleaned up the at the People's Choice Awards 2014. The voters must have known he'd struck gold, seeing as he also snagged a Grammy that year for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with Jay-Z for "Holy Grail."

6. Viola Davis - Favorite Actress in a New TV Series, People's Choice Awards 2015

Who could ever forget Viola Davis' incredibly moving speech as she accepted an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama? The first ever for an African-America woman in that category! Once again, the people got it right ahead of the critics, since Davis won a People's Choice Award for the same role earlier that year.

7. Julia Roberts - Favorite All-Around Female Entertainer, People's Choice Awards 1991

Back in the '90s, Julia Roberts was crushing every awards ceremony there was, and the People's Choice Awards were no different. The same year she won a PCA for Favorite All-Around Female Entertainer, she won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes for her leading role in Pretty Woman. All very well-deserved wins!

People’s Choice Awards 2016 will air live from the Microsoft Theater on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on CBS. Tickets to the awards show are now available for fans to purchase through AXS.com.
