It’s clear that there’s still a lot of fan love for ABC’s long-standing medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy.
The Shonda Rhimes series walked away with the award for this year’s “Favorite Network TV Drama” at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night. Though Rhimes herself was not in attendance, the majority of the cast was, and they took the stage to accept the award as a team.
Series star Ellen Pompeo, who has played Meredith Grey for 12 seasons now, took the mic and commented on how big the crowd was at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles before going on to thank the fans for their continued love and support.
“You let us live out our dreams and run around like maniacs with scalpels and you love the show so much and your enthusiasm keeps us going,” said Pompeo, who was also this year’s fan pick for “Favorite Dramatic TV Actress.”
“Our show is about understanding and compassion and tolerance and mindless and those are things we can all use more of in the world,” continued the actress. “I’m so proud of our show…we love you so much!"
Congrats to the cast of Grey’s Anatomy for their sixth People’s Choice Award win in the “Favorite Network TV Drama” category!
