It looks like Jerrika Hinton may be trading in her scalpel for save the dates! The actress, who plays surgical resident Stephanie Edwards on Grey’s Anatomy, has just landed a role in Shondaland’s upcoming comedy pilot, Toast.

TV Line reports that Hinton will star as the female lead in the upcoming pilot, playing opposite Jono Kenyon (Step Dave), which will be written and executive produced by Scandal’s Scott Foley and Alias’ Greg Grunberg.

Directed by Gail Mancuso, Toast will find engaged couple Max (Kenyon) and Page (Hinton) listening to the toasts given at their wedding rehearsal dinner by various friends and family members. As they listen in on the anecdotes of their life as described by the people closest to them, we’ll see that those memories aren’t always completely accurate. The audience will then get to experience what actually happened through flashbacks.

While Toast sounds like it’s got the potential to be lots of fun, fans who adore Hinton in Grey’s Anatomy shouldn’t expect the actress to fly the coop just yet. According to Deadline, her role on the upcoming comedy will have no impact on her status as a regular on the popular medical drama though that could change if Rhimes’ new pilot gets a series order.

Either way, we’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing Hinton in both series if Toast gets picked up!
