An unlikely duo stole the show at the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards last night as pop star Katy Perry teamed up with country music legend Dolly Parton to perform an unforgettable duet!

The “Roar” singer was on hand to present the country icon with the Tex Ritter Award for her work on the NBC TV movie, Coat of Many Colors. Perry, who referred to Parton as her “personal hero,” expressed her excitement about collaborating with the revered country star.

“I recently tweeted that I was but just one tiny sequin on Dolly Parton’s gown,” Perry shared with the crowd. “I think I’ll say, though, maybe we’re kind of cut from the same lamΓ© because her grandpa was a preacher, my father’s a preacher; we both grew up singin’ and playin’ guitar in church; and we’re both known for some of the biggest songs in our fields.”

The Pop Princess and Queen of Country performed an eclectic medley of Parton’s greatest hits, beginning with “Coat of Many Colors” before transitioning to “Jolene” and concluding with “Nine to Five.”
