*** This post contains major spoilers from season 6, episode 2 of Game of Thrones. ***
After the Lord Commander was stabbed (seemingly) to death by his fellow Night’s Watch men in the season 5 finale, viewers were left wondering if the beloved character was truly gone for good. Many hoped the season 6 premiere last week would reveal that Jon had somehow survived the attack, but instead, the episode capped off with a reveal about Melisandre. And then came tonight’s (Sunday, May 1) game-changing hour.
Faced with the enormity of the loss, Davos asks a defeated Melisandre to try and work her magic — literally — on Jon Snow. And what do you know? It actually works. At the very end of the episode, Jon Snow’s eyes shoot open, signifying that the Lord Commander is officially back in action.
“I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right,” Harington told EW’s James Hibberd.
We’re willing to let it slide this time, Kit — but only because we’re so excited that Jon Snow is finally back!
