Unfortunately, it may be case closed for ABC’s Agent Carter.

Several outlets are reporting that the Marvel series is unlikely to be picked up for a third season on ABC. Starring Hayley Atwell as the eponymous Agent Peggy Carter and set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the series debuted on ABC in 2015 and has aired 18 episodes over its two seasons.

With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. already renewed for a fourth season and a spinoff series, Marvel’s Most Wanted, potentially joining the ABC family, it appears Agent Carter is in very real danger of cancellation.

One of the reasons Variety reports that the series will “likely be axed” is that Atwell is starring in another ABC pilot, the political crime drama Conviction.

The fate of Agent Carter, Marvel’s Most Wanted, and Atwell’s new pilot Conviction will be revealed at the ABC Upfront Presentation on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
