With Olivia Munn set to make her superhero debut in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse movie, the former Newsroom star recently revealed that there was another comic book adaptation she could have added to her resume.

During an interview with American Way Magazine, Munn said she was offered the role of Ryan Reynolds’ girlfriend, Vanessa, in Deadpool but turned it down because she wanted to play more than a “girlfriend.” Munn’s penchant for a little less conversation and a little more action led her to accept the role of Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse.

“I said, ‘Is there a fight scene?’ Munn told American Way Magazine. “I thought Psylocke was always one of the most lethal characters, and I said, ‘Yes, as long as you’re not using her to be the eye candy. She has really powerful abilities.’”

The role Ryan Reynold’s on-screen girlfriend ultimately went to Homeland actress Morena Baccarin and Deadpool went on to have the biggest February opening ever for an R-rated movie. From the sounds of it though, Munn has no regrets — and we don’t blame her!
