Stana Katic Says Goodbye To ‘Castle’ Fans With A Heartfelt Letter

Now that Castle has officially been canceled, it’s time to prepare for the goodbyes. While fans may still be reeling over the show’s abrupt departure from ABC’s lineup, the show’s leading lady, Stana Katic, has already accepted her fate and is thanking fans for the journey.

In light of the news that the show won’t return for season 9, Katic took to Twitter to share a photo of a poignant thank you note dedicated to Castle’s fans, cast and crew. And yes — she actually broke out the pen and paper to do it! So old school.

“Your devotion to this show has carried us for these unforgettable eight seasons,” wrote Katic, who played Kate Beckett on the series. “I’m lucky to have met and worked with and for the lot of you. I will always be grateful.”

Though it was announced last month that Katic and fellow costar Tamala Jones would not be returning to the show even if it was picked up for another season, Castle‘s protagonist Nathan Fillion, along with supporting actors like Seamus Dever, had just renewed their contracts for a tentative season 9. The decision to end the crime dramedy came late last night (May 12).

Now all that’s left it to see how it all ends. Castle’s season finale, which will now serves as its series finale, airs Monday, May 16 on ABC.
