Bones may be ending after season 12, but the show isn’t going out without giving fans one last wild ride.

In an interview with Access Hollywood at this year’s Fox Upfronts, Bones stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel teased that fans should expect an emotional and exciting final season.

“This is our twelfth year and so we’re really excited as veterans…[it’s] our final farewell Upfronts and our final farewell seasons so it’s really an emotional time,” explained Deschanel. “[It’s] an exiting time and we’re excited to see how we end the show.”

The upcoming final season of the series is set to consist of 12 episodes and according to showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson, they’re looking forward to using those final episodes to give both Booth (Borenaz) and Bones (Deschanel) a fitting farewell.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have another season so we can give the show, characters and fans the end they so richly deserve,” said both showrunners in a statement released back in February.

For now, fans of the long-standing Fox series still have a few more episodes left before the series wraps up it’s eleventh season.

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Fox
