The Room actress is currently in talks to star in Marvel’s first female-led superhero film, with a source close to the film telling Entertainment Weekly that Brie is the “likely choice” for the role. The potential casting of Larson, who has earned critical praise for her her dramatic work in The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12, as well as her comedic performance in last year’s hit Trainwreck, has not only excited fans but also one of her fellow on-screen superheros: Chris Evans.
During the recent Wizard World panel in Philadelphia, Pa., Evans, who was accompanied by his fellow Marvel mates Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, said he “really hopes” Larson is cast as Captain Marvel.
“I really hope that happens,” Evans said. “I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ‘09; we did Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”
That makes two of us!
