Though previews of the play are currently in full swing (and already garnering rave reviews), Radcliffe told E! News that he has no plans to watch the eighth Harry Potter story unfold on stage in London’s West End.
“I could be completely wrong in this, but I feel like if I went to see it that night, there’s going to be a lot of Harry Potter fans there in the audience obviously and would that then become a thing?,” explained Radcliffe. “Would it be more about them watching me watch the show or would it take away from the show? I would never want to do anything that would distract or take away from the show.”
That’s certainly a very thoughtful reason for not attending! Aside from not wanting to take attention away from Cursed Child, Radcliffe’s also got a lot on his plate at the moment. The actor also cited that given his current role in the off-Broadway play, Privacy, and the upcoming premiere of Now You See Me 2, his schedule simply might not allow him a moment to get away to experience Cursed Child in person.
Preview productions of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are going on now in London’s West End. Alternatively, fans will be able to pick up a copy of the script book beginning July 31.
