While we still don’t know when Iggy Azalea’s sophomore album will drop, the “Team” singer announced she’s joining the judging panel of The X Factor: Australia!
The rapper will help discover the country’s next breakout star as she replaces Dannii Minogue as the newest judge for the show’s upcoming eighth season.
“I understand what it’s like to have giant dreams and intend to help other young Australians achieve theirs by sharing my knowledge and developing their talent in collaboration with The X Factor,” Azalea said in a statement.
During a recent appearance on Good Morning America, Iggy said she believes her involvement with the show will be a good fit.
“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show, but I think that this could actually be a good fit for me so I said yes,” Azalea said on GMA as reported by MTV. “Initially I didn’t know, but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.”
As far as how her new gig on X Factor: Australia will affect the release of her forthcoming second studio album, Digital Distortion, Azalea told a fan on Twitter that the timeline for dropping the new album has changed and that she is “regrouping” with her team in order to find out how much time they need between the album’s second single and the release.
