Daniel Radcliffe may have played Harry Potter in his younger days, but with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child previews officially under way, it’s clear the baton has been passed over to actor Jamie Parker.
Radcliffe stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday (June 14), where he gave Parker his official seal of approval.
“Jamie Parker’s a wonderful actor, and I’m very happy to see him playing me,” said Radcliffe of Parker portraying an older Harry. “And maybe all the questions will shift to him now. He can do all the Harry press.”
During the interview, Radcliffe also told Colbert that he’d love to see Cursed Child for himself, but once again, reiterated his concerns about seeing the play during the peak of its hype.
“I want to see the show, I am genuinely intrigued and I hear it’s fantastic,” said Radcliffe. “I just feel like sitting in an audience that will, for the most part of the near future, be very enthusiastic Harry Potter fans might not be a relaxing way to see a show.”
With that logic, we’re betting Radcliffe is going to have to wait a while before catching a showing of the brand=new Potter play. Even so, we’re really hoping he’s able to get out to see Cursed Child some day — we’d love to hear what he thinks of the plot!
