According to a recent report, Marvel Studios and Sony’s agreement to share the rights to everybody’s favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man may open the door for an epic mashup between the X-Men and the Avengers.
Matt Key, a producer on Kevin Smith’s Fatman On Batman podcast, recently revealed to Collider Heroes that Fox reportedly has interest in making the potential dream mashup happen.
“I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds that Fox and Marvel have … kind of talked, but not really, but like there’s interest from Fox, like, ‘Ooh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually pretty cool, like, maybe,'” Key told Collider Heroes.
While previous rumors about characters from Fox’s Fantastic Four joining Marvel were ultimately proven to be untrue, there’s still hope for potential combinations like Wolverine and the Hulk or Raven and Iron Man to captivate audiences on the big screen.
Just not anytime soon, unfortunately.
“We’re years away from that ever possibly happening,” Key continued. “But I think that’s what it would take … Fox joining hands with Marvel.”
