FOX breakout hit Empire just added another big name to its cast list as actor Taye Diggs has officially boarded the series’ third season.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the television, movie and Broadway vet has signed on to join the Emmy winning cast as a recurring character.
Diggs will play Angelo Dubois, “a New York councilman with a Harvard law degree who instead of pursuing richer endeavors, focuses on local politics and community issues.”
The last time we saw Diggs on the small screen, he was starring in the FOX show Rosewood, in a guest starring role as Dr. Mike Boyce.
Beginning in 2015, the breakout hit about a music mogul’s family drama has become must-watch TV for fans. Starring Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollet, Grace Gealey, Taraji P. Henson and more, Empire has incorporated plenty of big name guest stars related to the music world over its first two seasons, including Marissa Tomei, Kelly Rowland, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys, to name name a few.
And Taye won’t be the only new face in the new season. EW reports that rapper French Montana will also be guest starring once the series returns in the fall, although in what capacity is still unknown.
The music industry drama is set to return, with new faces in tow, on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
