Forming in 2015, the band took the music industry by storm with their debut single “Cake by the Ocean,” a song which went on to crack the top ten of the Billboard 100. Speaking with the gang from On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, Jonas revealed that the success of the catchy tune is actually one of the reasons the release of DNCE’s rookie album was pushed from August to October.
“It’s a good problem because it just means that the song is doing well so they want to push it back,” Jonas told On-Air with Ryan Seacrest.
With the success of “Cake by the Ocean” and their followup single “Toothbrush,” Jonas believes that fans are finally figuring out what DNCE is all about.
“With ‘Cake by the Ocean,’ they didn’t know who the band was, but they just loved the song,” Jonas said. “So everyone loved the song, and then [with] ‘Toothbrush’ now, people are like, ‘Okay, now we know what DNCE is.'”
Ahead of their album’s October release, DNCE will be performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival’s Daytime Village on Saturday, September 24.
