It looks like we’re not the only ones who want more  Game of Thrones than what showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have planned!

During HBO’s summer press tour, network president Casey Bloys touched on the series’ inevitable end and revealed that there’s not much he can do with regards to extending the showrunners’ master plan for the series.

“They have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do,” said Bloys when asked if the series will continue past season 8, according to E! News. “If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they [need] to make the best version of their show.”

Bloys also discussed the possibility of a Game of Thrones spinoff. Like Benioff and Weiss, however, the HBO executive reiterated that while the idea of a spinoff series has been discussed, no specifics have been hashed out yet.

“It’s not something I’m opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively,” revealed Bloys. “The guys weren’t opposed to it, but there’s no concrete plans or anything like that at this point.”

For now, it sounds as though everyone in involved with Game of Thrones is fully focused on giving the series the ending it deserves. The good news is, when they do get around to discussing sequels in detail, they’ll have no shortage of potential roads to go down— we’ve even suggested a few spinoff ideas we’d love to see happen!

Game of Thrones returns to to HBO in the summer of 2017.
