Jared Leto’s rendition of The Joker was undoubtedly a huge draw for those who went out to see Suicide Squad over the weekend, so it was probably a shock when moviegoers realized the Clown Prince of Crime wasn’t featured as heavily in the film as many presumed he would be.
Though The Joker didn’t get as much screen time as some of the other villains who star in director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, it’s not necessarily for lack of filmed material.
Just before the highly anticipated summer blockbuster made it’s debut. Leto revealed in an interview with TeleStar that many of his scenes didn’t end up making the theatrical cut. Now, the Academy Award winner is saying that there’s a possibility that all of the extra footage could in fact be enough to piece together an entire movie dedicated to The Joker.
“I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene, it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity,” revealed Leto in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 as reported by EW. “Because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movie.”
We’re definitely hoping that some of Leto’s deleted scenes end up seeing the light of day— perhaps in the extra bonus content when Suicide Squad eventually makes its way on to DVD!
Suicide Squad is in theaters now.
