Katy Perry Is Doing ‘A Lot Of Experimenting’ On Her New Album

Last month, Katy Perry released her first single in over two years, “Rise,” the motivational anthem for the 2016 Summer Games in Rio. Now, the countdown is on until the release of the singer’s upcoming album.

Back in July, Perry’s manager, Steven Jensen, confirmed that a followup to Katy’s successful 2013 album Prism would drop at some point in 2016.  The “Dark Horse” singer called into On-Air with Ryan Seacrest earlier today (August 18) to give fans an update on the forthcoming record. While the singer revealed that she’s trying new things with the new album, she’s not rushing the process.

“We’re in the thick of it and we’re doing a lot of experimenting. I’m just taking some chances,” Perry told On-Air with Ryan Seacrest. “I’m just having a lot of fun, but experimenting and trying different producers, and different collaborators, and different styles. I’m not rushing … I’m confident if I stay vulnerable and authentic with myself, the music that comes out of me will continue to connect.”

Perry’s last album, Prism, went on to debut atop the Billboard 200 off of the strength of singles like “Roar,” “Unconditionally,” and “Birthday” on its way to receiving a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
