It appears as though it’s not quite game over for Jumanji.
After officially wrapping on Fast 8, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took to Instagram on Friday (August 19) to talk about his next big screen project, Jumanji. While many believed the project would be a reboot of the beloved 1995 original, Johnson set the record straight by revealing the upcoming movie, which also features Kevin Hart and Jack Black, will actually be a continuation of the franchise.
The action star clarified his statement earlier today (Aug. 22), while also promising to introduce a whole new generation to the “fun and crazy” universe of Jumanji.
“This new movie will NOT be a remake or reboot of the original. It will be a CONTINUATION of the awesome JUMANJI adventure 20 years later,” The Rock wrote on Instagram.
While Johnson referred to himself, Hart, and Black as the “Cray Cray Triplets” in the post, Nick Jonas is also in talks to join the film, which may force the star to rename the group the “Cray Cray Quadruplets.”

Directed by Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher), Jumanji is currently scheduled for a July 28, 2017 release.
