Get ready to go back to the Upside Down. Netflix’s breakout sci-fi series Stranger Things is coming back for season 2.

The streaming giant made the announcement today (Aug. 31) that Stranger Things will return in 2017 for an expanded nine episodes. This is a slightly bigger arc than the show’s initial eight-episode run. The second season is expected to premiere sometime in 2017.

With monsters, boyhood camaraderie, government conspiracies and ’80s nostalgia to boot, Stranger Things has become one of Netflix’s most addictive and successful original series. According to Symphony Advanced Media, since it was released on July 15, 2016,   Stranger Things has averaged around 14 million adult viewers within the demographic of 18–49. This means Stranger Things, in its inaugural season, has become the third most-watched show of Netflix original content, coming in just behind the first season of their Fuller House reboot and season 4 of Orange Is the New Black.

Executive produced by Shawn Levy, Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and more. The series chronicles a boy’s disappearance in an Indiana town that leads to the uncovering of government-sanctioned human experiments and a monster-ridden underworld.

As for telekinetic Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who is easily the most intriguing character in the whole show, her future seemed sealed when she used all her energy to destroy the Demogorgon in the season 1 finale. That was until we saw Chief Hopper leave some of her beloved Eggo waffles out in the woods in one of the last scenes. What’s El’s status in season 2?

The cryptic season 2 teaser might offer some hints. The promo reveals next season’s episode titles. While some of the titles are easy to figure out (“The Boy Who Came Back To Life” obviously means Will), others, including “The Brain,” “The Pollywog,” and “The Palace” are much more mysterious. We’ll leave it to you to decipher what they mean. Take a look below and hit the comments with your predictions!
