UPDATE: EW reports that the rumor that Angela Lansbury is headed to Game of Thrones next season is just that…a rumor. Lansbury’s team has reportedly debunked reports that the actress will appear on the HBO drama in season 7. See below for the original story.

Game of Thrones may be adding an incredibly iconic actress to its cast for season 7!

According to a German news site called Bild, famed stage and screen actress Angela Lansbury is currently in talks to join the hit fantasy series.

If she’s cast, the 90-year-old Murder, She Wrote vet would reportedly appear in two episodes and spend roughly four days on set. Naturally, details of her proposed role are being kept firmly under wraps, so there’s no telling who Lansbury could be playing.

Game of Thrones has booked a slew of talented actors over the years, but Lansbury would certainly be among the most iconic if she ends up joining the cast. Over the course of the eight decades she’s spent in show business, Lansbury has won five Tony Awards, six Golden Globes, and has even been the recipient of an honorary Oscar, so we’re sure she’d shine in whatever role they placed her in if this casting rumor comes to fruition.

Lansbury aside, one new face we will be seeing when Game of Thrones picks back up again next summer will be that of actor Jim Broadbent. The famed British actor, best known for his roles in films like Harry Potter, Hot Fuzz and Bridget Jones’ Diary is the latest big name to officially join the cast of Game of Thrones for this new season.

If Broadben’s involvement, and the news that we could be seeing Lansbury step into the world of Westeros are anything to go by, it looks like Game of Thrones is set to bring us yet another epic season!
