Get ready to see Joe Manganiello face off against Ben Affleck.

According to The Wall Street Journal, DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns, has officially confirmed that the True Blood alum will be portraying Deathstroke in the upcoming solo Batman movie.

Rumors of the deadly assassin’s involvement in the DC cinematic universe have been swirling for quite some time. On August 29, Affleck himself basically confirmed the rumors himself when he took to Instagram to share a quick 27-second clip featuring a powerful looking figure, clad in metal armor, walking toward the camera. Now we know for sure that the character Affleck teased was in fact Deathstroke.

In the comics, Deathstroke (also known as Slade Wilson) is a mercenary and assassin who gains his superhuman powers after he’s chosen for a secret experiment aimed at attempting to create meta super human soldiers while serving in the U.S. Army.

Currently, there’s no release date yet for the upcoming solo Batman film, so we’ll just have to hope that Affleck feels generous enough to keep teasing us all with behind the scenes footage on social media.

And now that we know Manganiello is the man behind the armor, we’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing what he does with the character of Deathstroke when the film eventually hits theaters!
