Every artist has their own creative process. And for Britney Spears, listening to her own music is ironically the last thing on her list.
The 34-year-old singer let Flaunt magazine in on her little secret during a recent interview.
“I don’t really listen to my music,” she told the mag. “My kids and my nieces do. I’m about the creative process — I’m in the moment of being creative, and then I put it out there.”
But of course, Spears her own songs over and over all the time. After all, she performs almost her entire discography almost every night at her Planet Hollywood residency in Las Vegas.
“Of course, I sing my songs every night [at her ongoing residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas] and I have to listen to it that way, but I’m all about change. And new. And forthcoming,” Brit continued. “But, there is a part of me in my music and I hope, for my fans, that they can have that part of me when they hear me on the radio, or buy my CD, or whatever they do.”
Even though not listening to her songs after she makes them may sound strange, with almost 20 successful years in the music business, Brit’s gotta be doing something right. Her latest single “Make Me…” featuring G-Eazy debuted at No. 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 when it first dropped in July of this year. Oddly enough, No. 17 was the slot Spear’s first single “Baby One More Time” debuted at way back in 1998.
Birtney’s ninth studio album Glory dropped on Aug. 26, 2016 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The former “princess of pop” has described this new album to show off a softer, more soulful side of her.
