Big Bang Theory fans would love to see the series go on forever, but what are the odds that the show will see life after this current season? According to actress Kayley Cuoco, it all comes down to logistics.
Kaley, who portrays Penny on the CBS sitcom, swung by the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on Monday (Sept. 12) night and took a moment to point out one big deciding factor that goes into greenlighting each season of the show. When Kimmel asked whether or not we could expect the series to continue after this year, Cuoco hinted that, as always, it comes down to negotiating contracts.
“That’s a very expensive question,” joked Cuoco. “For a lot of people.”
Regardless of whether the show goes on from here, it’s clear that Cuoco has a lot of love for the role she’s spent nearly a decade playing.
“Ten years. Come on,” exclaimed Cuoco. “All my twenties. I went from like, hot, to like, 30. I was 21 when I started this show.”
When Cuoco puts it into perspective like that, it’s hard to believe that we’ve had The Big Bang Theory in our lives for so long. Even so, we’ve got to admit that it’s definitely been fun to see the series progress over the years!
And as much as we’d love to see The Big Bang Theory stick around for a few more years to come, for now, we’ll settle for enjoying the series’ 10th season.
The Big Bang Theory premieres Monday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
