We hate to be the bearers of bad news but it sounds like Lady Gaga might not be performing at the 2017 Super Bowl halftime show, after all.
Rumors started swirling last week that the “Perfect Illusion” singer could be next year’s halftime headliner after Billboard reported that the singer was in talks to perform at the big game. Now, the NFL is speaking out and clearing things up.
The organization sent a statement over to EW stating that the rumors of Gaga’s involvement in the halftime show were “not true.”
“Nothing has changed from what we said earlier in the week,” said a representative for the sports organization.
In a previous statement released when Gaga’s name was first thrown into the mix, the NFL said that they had not reached a final decision as to who would be performing at next year’s halftime show despite having “had conversations with several fantastic artists.”
Gaga isn’t the only big name to have been linked with next year’s halftime show. “Hello” singer Adele was rumored to be the halftime performer back in August until the singer cleared things up during a concert, letting her fans know that she was “not doing the Super Bowl.”
As much fun as it is to speculate over who next year’s big performer could be, we guess we’ll just have to wait and see who the NFL locks in!
