Fans of American Horror Story can rest assured in knowing that the series will be around past this year’s sixth season!

FX announced on Tuesday (Oct. 4) that Ryan Murphy’s horror drama has officially been renewed for a seventh season.

News of the series’ renewal comes hot off the heels of the big season 6 premiere of American Horror Story: Roanoke, which has become the third most watched telecast in FX history.

In a statement announcing the good news, FX Networks and FX Production’s CEO, Jon Landgraf said that the company is “honored to move ahead with [showrunners Ryan Murpy and Bad Falchuk] on the seventh installment” of the series.

“AHS confronts our deepest fears with unmatched suspense and style,” said Landgraf of the series. “Each new installment is a cultural event, hotly anticipated for its theme, imagery, cast and twists.”

Given the shroud of mystery surrounding season 6, we’re not expecting to get any finite details with regards to the plot of season 7 any time soon. Even so, it’s great to know that we’ve got another year of American Horror Story to look forward to after AHS: Roanoke wraps up!

American Horror Story: Roanoke airs Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. on FX.
