Mean Girls fans, rejoice! A stage adaptation of Tina Fey’s hit 2004 comedy is set to have its world premiere in Washington, D.C. next year and we’re betting it’s going to be totally fetch!

News that the upcoming musical would open in the fall of 2017 was fittingly announced on Oct. 3, which fans have officially claimed as Mean Girls day in honor of the fated conversation had between Aaron (Jonathan Bennett) and Cady (Lindsay Lohan) in Math class.

“BREAKING OCT 3rd NEWS! The ‘Mean Girls’ musical is coming to Washington, D.C. Fall of 2017!” wrote the official Mean Girls Twitter account on Monday.

The upcoming musical is a collaborative effort between Legally Blonde’s Tony Award-nominated lyricist Nell Benjamin, Fey herself, and Fey’s husband, composer Jeffrey Richmond.

According to Playbill, Fey revealed in a past interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that fans can expect the production to have a “classic Broadway” sound.

We love the fact that Fey is directly involved with the musical and that she’s brought on a team of seriously incredible people to help with bringing it to life.

We’ll definitely be looking forward to keeping up with the Mean Girls musical’s world premiere, and of course, we’ll be crossing our fingers that they decide to take the production on tour so everyone can enjoy the production!
