Disneyland’s Tower of Terror is about to get a major upgrade and now, fans get their first peek at what the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy themed makeover is going to look like.
Disney originally announced that the brand-new attraction, called Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout, would be taking over the space Tower of Terror currently inhabits earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con. t might have been hard to imagine what the Marvel-themed ride would look like when the news first broke, but thanks to a video uploaded to YouTube by Disneyland, we’re getting a great first look at what we can expect from the revamped ride.
“The setting is a giant warehouse belonging to The Collector,” explains Walt Disney Imagineering executive Joe Rohde. “[It’s] this huge power plant kind of a place that’s surging with power, rising up into the sky, and packed with all of his rare, irreplaceable collections from all around the world.”
As the video progresses, another Disney exec takes us through a physical model of what the new ride will look like from the outside. With it’s metallic piping, and bright colors, it seems like Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout will truly be a sight to behold— especially once night falls!
As sad as we’ll be to see Disney California Adventure’s Tower of Terror close it’s doors, we’ve got to admit that seeing the concept for the new ride has totally got us excited to check it out!
Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout is set to open at Disney California Adventure next summer.
