You can now add author to Reese Witherspoon’s long list of job titles! The 40-year-old actress is writing her first book and we already want to pre-order it.
Witherspoon already has a stellar track record of bringing blockbuster books to the big screen — including Gone Girl, Wild and the recently released Girl on the Train, so the decision to pen a novel of her own seems like the logical next step. So what will the book be about? All-things Southern, of course!
“I’m thrilled to be writing my first book with Touchstone,” Witherspoon said in a statement via Entertainment Weekly. “It’s a unique opportunity for me to share funny anecdotes about my Southern upbringing and give people a glimpse into my idea of Southern living.”
According to the EW, Witherspoon’s “southern-influence lifestyle book” will feature photographs and personal essays about “the people and places that influenced her.”
This isn’t the first time the Legally Blonde actress has channeled her Southern Belle roots. In 2015 she opened up her clothing store, Draper James, in Nashville Tennessee, and in October 2016 the second location in Dallas officially opened its doors.
The store features clothing and home goods that revolve around typical Southern sayings, like her famous tote that says, “Totes Y’all,” and her newest bag that reads, “What Would Dolly Do?” There are also mugs with the phrase, “Hello, sugar” on them and matching tees.
Clearly, you can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the Southern Belle out of the girl!
For those of you who can’t wait to read Witherspoon’s upcoming book – count us as one of those people – it is expected to be released in 2018.
