Friday is a big day for Vampire Diaries fans and Julie Plec is definitely aware of its significance!

The showrunner took to her Twitter on Sunday (Oct. 17) to remind fans of the beloved CW drama that Friday would mark the the last time any of us would ever experience a season premier of The Vampire Diaries.

“Guys, this is a big week. FRIDAY is the last time you’ll ever see a new season premier of #TVD. Don’t miss it. #TVDForever,” wrote Plec.

The showrunner paired her tweet with an incredibly fitting GIF of Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) sure to give fans everywhere all the feels.

The image features a tearful goodbye between the pair with an emphasis on one of Caroline’s most memorable lines from season 4, episode 14, “Down The Rabbit Hole.”

As sad as it is to think that this will be the last time a new season of The Vampire Diaries premieres on The CW, we’re taking comfort in the fact that we’ve still got a full season of episodes left before we have to say goodbye.

It’ll bittersweet to bid farewell to The Vampire Diaries after all these years, we’re definitely looking forward to seeing how Julie Plec and the rest of the cast tie things up!

The Vampire Diaries season 8 premiers Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
