Have you ever wondered what happens to superheroes when their will to fight begins to fade?

Well that’s exactly what’s happening to Logan/The Wolverine in the newest trailer and it’s leaving us with a lot of mixed emotions.

Logan marks the third installment of the Wolverine film series and it looks like it’s going to paint a deeper, more intense picture. Hugh Jackman is back as the clawed man, but this time around his character Logan is battered and bruised with no real shot or will to recover.

The trailer gives us a glimpse into the life of Logan now that the X-Men are no more (it’s set in the future – 2024) and to say he’s down on his luck would be an understatement.

After seeing Jackman’s character more worn than ever before and clearly full of aches and pains, Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) voice plays over the images of Logan’s battle-torn body as he asks Logan what he’s done.

“Charles, the world is not the same as it was,” Logan mutters, in a depressed toned. “Mutants – they’re gone.”

Despite the fact that his recovery time is severely weakened and he looks as though he is ready to give up on life, Charles introduces Logan to a young girl, Laura Kinney (Sienna Novikov), who is just like him and needs his help.

The trailer continues to show Logan and Charles’ journey with Laura as we see that she might be the key to Logan reviving his life and help he needs to pick up the pieces of his former heroic self.

There is of course many battle scenes in the teaser as well, because what’s a Marvel movie without a little action? Plus, when there is a chance of a mutant surviving, Nathaniel Essex (or Mister Sinister) can’t stay away and possibly let them survive. Instead, Logan must push through his own pain and help Laura to stay alive.

Towards the end of the trailer, Logan’s silver claws finally make an appearance proving that he’s back!

“Logan, you have time,” Charles says, as the scene fades and Laura grabs Logan’s hands – claws and all. Oh man, this gives us chills!

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017
