Taylor Swift has been taking some much needed time off. But at her first comeback performance of 2016, the 1989 starlet completely blew expectations out of the water!
Swift performed at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix in Del Valle, Texas this past Saturday (Oct. 22) and had plenty of surprises up her sleeve for the occasion. The 26-year-old performed roughly a dozen of her biggest hits in front of a crowd of 80,000 people. Taylor dazzled the audience with renditions of “Shake It Off,” “Bad Blood,” “Blank Space” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” But it was one live rendition that Tay had never performed before that really got the crowd to join in.
“As a songwriter, the most rewarding feeling in the world is writing something and having a crowd sing it back to you because you know the words,” Taylor told the crowd before killing a piano-laced version of “Blank Space.” The summer song courtesy of Calvin Harris/Rihanna also boasts Taylor as a co-writer.
“I’ve never played this song live before, but you know it. Maybe you can sing along,” said Taylor to the joy of the audience.
Swift’s appearance at the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix marks her first performance since wrapping her 2015 1989 World Tour in December of last year. Will this performance prove to be a kick-off for her next album roll out or tour?
